Wow, it has been a long time since I have updated the blog. Oops.
We had a practice tri on Treasure Island on the 21st which ended up being a little unconventional. The water was only 47 degrees so our merciful coach took pity on us and we switched to a run-bike-run triathlon.
The first run was a little more than 5k and once again I had to start in the last wave (4). Coach Tom said it was because I was a fast swimmer, but we were not swimming!! I knew it was a recipe for going out too fast but oh well (I averaged 8:03s on that run - ok it was a little too fast).

Moving on to the bike, Treasure Island is not a great place to ride a road bike. Ok, honestly, it is a terrible place to ride a road bike. Potholes, cracks, wind, a million turns on each loop, and this ride was 6 loops. I ended up averaging 15.4mph which probably sounds incredibly slow to some of you, but hey, I'm a newbie on the bike.
The second run was 4 loops, according to my GPS 6.74 miles and I averaged 7:54 so I was happy with that run.
The highlight of the day was having Dottie on the bike course practicing her cheer leading! I'm sorry I did not get a picture of her standing in the middle of the road, in the glass, so that we would all avoid her and the glass at the same time. Yes, she told us there was glass there, but it was not sinking into our helmeted heads in time so she just stood in our way, very effective.
All in all it was a much better day than the first practice triathlon and NO FLAT TIRE (until the next day).
